Engineering construction ballot
On 11 August a strike ballot of engineering construction workers will begin. It will include workers on sites in Grangemouth, Sellafield, Stanlow, Staythorpe, and Aberthaw, all members of Unite and GMB.
The ballot runs until 1 September and is over the employers' refusal to discuss improvements to the national agreement, NAECI. This follows the industrial action earlier this year and Total's reneging on the agreement forged at Lindsey to provide employment for workers facing redundancy.
The battle to force the employers to keep to these agreements and pay the agreed rates is still going on.
