South Eastern Trains
1,400 RMT members working for South Eastern Trains are also to be balloted for strike action.
The company wants to cut 350 jobs and make unacceptable changes to working conditions, including the downgrading of the safety role of guards.
The introduction of new high-speed services is being used as an excuse to attack the workers.
The company is already boasting that it will protect its handsome profits by cutting jobs and that if times get tough, it will simply ask for more public money.
The ballot runs from 16-30 March.
